Loyal W. "Brownie" Hardesty, 75, Enjoyed Bowling and Fishing

Loyal W. "Brownie" Hardesty - 75, of Avon Lake, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2003 at St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake following a short illness.

Mr. Hardesty was born April 8, 1927 in Sheffield Lake and has lived in Avon Lake his entire life. He was a graduate of Avon Lake High School and attended Fenn College, Cleveland and the University of Michigan where he studied business management.

He served in the U.S. 5th Army Air Force bomber Command in the South Pacific during World War II. Between 1957 and 1960, he owned and operated Brownies Market in Sheffield Lake. He was also employed from 1950 to 1985 for B.F. Goodrich Chemical Company where he was employed in various management positions. In addition, he worked both full and part-time as a realtor, from 1962 until retiring with Realty One in 1998.

Brownie was a member of the Mid-Century Lodge, No. 725 F. & A.M. Avon Lake, the Lorain County Shrine club and the Al Koran Shrine of Cleveland. Professionally, he was also a member of the Lorain County Association of Realtors, the Ohio Association of Realtors and the Cleveland Builders Association.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing, painting and was a sports enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (nee Garbo). Other survivors include three daughters: Bonnie Marie Watt (Gerry) of Pennsylvania, Linda Martin of Strongsville, and Kay Carbone (Ken) of Avon Lake; two sons: Don (Gayle) of Amherst and Jim (Janice) of West Palm Beach, Florida, nine grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Hardest of Benton, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Kisner (nee Rice) and Kenneth Hardesty; and a brother, Dallas Hardesty.

Friends may call at the Busch=Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2003, where the Mid-Century Masonic Lodge will conduct services at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Prayer Services will be held at the funeral home, Thursday, January 16, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, 332929 Lake Road, Avon Lake at 10:00 a.m. Fr. James Beatty will officiate. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
