Gertrudiz Velazquez, 89, She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and sharing the "word" of salvation

She was born November 12, 1913 in Penuela, Puerto Rico. She came to Lorain in 1969. She moved to Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1978. Then in 1981 came back to live in Lorain.

Mrs. Velazquez was a member of Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal Ebenezer, Lorain. She was also a member of the church's Sociedad de las Damas. Mrs. Velazquez was a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed flowering gardening and loved to share the "word" of salvation.

Among the survivors are her sons Angel, Porfirio, Jose, Milton, Irael and Raul Velazquez all of Lorain, Hilberto Velazquez and Endy Velazquez of Orlando, Florida; daughters Ana Ramos of Orlando, Florida, Gladys Velazquez and Maria Velazquez of Sheffield Township; 38 Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren; brother Juan of Ponce, Puerto Rico; sisters America of New York, New York and Santia of Ponce, Puerto Rico.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Angelino Velazquez Rivera in 1980; parents Jose and Maria (nee Colon) Madera; sons Florentino, Euripides and Ramon Velazquez.

Friends may call Tuesday 4:00 PM until time of service at 7:00 PM in Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal Ebenezer, East 36th Street and Globe Avenue, Lorain. She will be taken to Ponce, Puerto Rico for funeral service and burial.
