Howard C. Peterson, 83, US Steel Foreman in #1 Pipe Shop
Howard C. Peterson, 83, of Lorain, died Friday, January 10, 2003 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness.Born September 3, 1919 in Cleveland, Howard spent most of his life in the area.
He retired from U.S. Steel in Lorain as a Foreman in #1 Pipe Shop in 1981 after 42 years. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran. He was a member of the Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church in Lorain and the Golden Ager Pensioners Club where he had been Musical Director. Mr. Peterson was a former volunteer as a diver for the Red Cross.
He was active as an organist, member of two bands, "The 3 Sharps" and "The Sharps". He enjoyed cars, sailing, dancing and was an animal lover.
He is survived by his two sons: Scott Peterson of Elyria, Eric Peterson of Lorain and step-daughters Sharon Martin of Newalla, OK, Debra Ruffner of Harrah, OK, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Evelyn (Clark) Peterson.
Friends may visit on Sunday, January 12, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday, January 13, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Rev. Dennis Henkle will officiate.
The VFW Mullen & Murray Post #451 will perform the military services.
Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
