Thelma Louise Swiers, 76, Loved to sew and enjoyed canning

Thelma Louise Swiers (nee Snider), 76 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at Lorain Community Health Partners following a lingering illness. She was born August 7, 1926 in Hockingport, Ohio. She has lived in Amherst since 1944.

Thelma was a housewife and a homemaker. She loved to sew and enjoyed canning.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Albert W. Swiers; her sons, Walter Swiers of Elyria and David Swiers of Amherst; her daughter, Nita Swiers of South Amherst; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; her brother Cliff "Jake" Snider of Hockingport, OH, her sisters Mary Samblanet of Navarre, OH, and Wilma Young of Reedsville, OH.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Snider; her sisters, Edna Snider, Bertha Gregory, Frieda Yater, and by her parents Lon Henry and Rose Snider (nee Blake).

Friends may call Friday January 10, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am from the funeral home. The Rev. Gary Lunsford, pastor of South Amherst First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
