Howard E. Nelson Jr., 85, Enjoyed bowling and gardening
Howard E. Nelson Jr., 85, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003 in Community Health Partners West after a 5-month illness. He was born June 5, 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio. He has been a life long area resident.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He worked as a foreman for US Steel Plant in Lorain, retiring in 1973. He graduated from Heidelberg College. He was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church. He enjoyed bowling and gardening.
He is survived by two sons, Walter Paul Nelson of Perrysburg, Ohio and Howard E. Nelson III of Canton, OH; three grandchildren; several great grandchildren, and a sister, Peg Weber of Santa Rosa, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred S. (nee Andrews) Nelson in 1996; a son, Donald J. Nelson in 1979; and a brother, John Nelson.
Private inurnment will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park, Huron.
