Diana M. Zellers, 73, Avid bingo player and Accomplished reader
Diana M. Zellers (nee Zajkowski), age 73, of Lorain, died Wednesday January 8, 2003 at Community Heath Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Zellers was born August 24, 1929 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.A graduate of Lorain High School, she was most recently employed as a housekeeper for Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church and Parochial School. She had previously been employed as a cashier for the Atlantic & Pacific Grocery Store of Lorain.
She was an active parishioner of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Lorain and was a former member of the parish school's Parent-Teacher Union. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of St. John - Lorain.
She was an avid bingo player and an accomplished reader with a particular interest in historical novels. Additional hobbies include collecting angels and baby-sitting for her grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter: Joyce L. Tripphahn residing in Grafton, sons: Joseph M. of Vermilion, Gerald H. of Brooklyn, New York, and Michael L. of Amherst, 2 granddaughters, and a brother: Michael "Myron" Zajkowski of Longwood, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Zellers in 1996 and by her parents: Michael and Stephanie (nee Mika) Zajkowksi.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 9:00 a.m. in Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church - 1454 Lexington Avenue - Lorain. The Rev. Robert Glepko, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery - Lorain.
