Carmen Reyes, 73, Loved caring for her family, making others happy, dancing, and cooking

Carmen Reyes (nee Davila) 73, of Lorain, died Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at her residence while under the care of New Life Hospice following a short illness. Born September 10, 1929 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, she moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1952 then to Lorain in 1976.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and while living in Philadelphia, she was a member of Assumption Catholic Church. She loved caring for her family and also enjoyed cooking, dancing, and making others happy.

Surviving are her sons, Luis Reyes, and Manual Pedro, both of Lorain, Jose Reyes Jr., of Philadelphia, daughters, Noris Maldonado, of Lorain, Carmen Reyes, of Philadelphia, Ana Reyes, of Lorain, Maria Reyes, of Lorain, and Nilsa Hernandez, of Chicago, IL., 13 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren, brothers, Esteban G. Davila, of Lorain, Primitivo Davila, of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, Carlos Davila, of Chicago, IL., Santo Davila, of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, Esteban Davila, of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, Raul Davila, of Caguas, Puerto Rico, and Fransisco Davila, of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, sisters, Santa Davila, and Carmen Davila, both of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose M. Reyes, grandson, Hector Aviles, father Eulalio Davila, mother, Gertudis Davila (nee Garcia), brothers, Salvador Davila, Ramiro Davila, Placido Davila, Fabian Davila, Pedro Davila, sisters, Dolores Ramos, Aurelia Davila, Ana Davila.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 9, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where services will be conducted at 8:30 pm. Rev. Deacon Tony DeGracia, of Sacred Heart Chapel, will officiate. Funeral services with burial will be held in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday.
