Gary Gene Scott, 57, Avid hunter and Harley Davidson Motorcyclist

Gary "Grub" Gene Scott, 57 years of age, and a resident of Wakeman, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2003 at University Hospital of Cleveland following a long illness.

He was born November 17, 1945 in Lorain. He was raised and lived in Sheffield Lake until moving in 1960 to South Amherst. He has been a resident of Wakeman since 1990.

He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Local #18 in Cleveland for fourteen years retiring in 2002 as an operating engineer. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ in South Amherst. He was also a member of the Amherst V.F.W. Post #1662; the Wakeman Eagles Club and was avid deer hunter and Harley Davidson Motorcyclist.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-four years, Deborah Scott; his son Marshall Scott of Wakeman; his stepson Juston Davis of Brown Deer, Wisconsin; a granddaughter; his sister Carol Scharmann of Avon; and two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents William M., in 1985 and Mary F. (nee Durbin) Scott in 1992.

Friends may call Wednesday January 8th, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-8 pm at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 8:00 pm from the funeral home. The Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will be performing honors.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Liver Foundation; 5755 Granger Rd., Suite 335, Independence, OH 44131.
