John Bojdo, 80, U.S. Army Veteran

Photo of John Bojdo John Bojdo, 80, of Lorain died January 4, 2003 at home following a sudden illness.

He was born March 16, 1922 in Copenhagen, Denmark, came to the United States when he was 18 years old and has been a Lorain resident his entire life. He was an U.S. Army veteran serving in Europe during WWII, and was a prisoner of war in Germany from 1943 until 1949.

He worked as a janitor for 3 years at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and was a machinist at Lorain Products for 20 years, retiring in 1990.

He attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, was a member of the American Slovak Club and United Polish Club in Lorain. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing vegetables, which he shared with his friends.

He is survived by his daughter Katharine Bojdo of Lorain, Theresa Ann Bojdo of Willoughby Hills, sons Frank A. of Raleigh, North Carolina, John and Joseph both of Lorain, 3 grandchildren, a sister in Poland, and former wife Theresa Mary Bojdo.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Marja Bojdo.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 20, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Resthaven Memory Garden Cemetery, located at 3700 Center Rd. Avon, Ohio.

The Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
