Edward Adam Mackie, 57, Retired from General Motors in 1994

Edward Adam Mackie, 57 years of age, and a resident of Michigan and formerly of Amherst, passed away January 3, 2003 at his home following a sudden illness. He was born June 22, 1945 in Amherst where he was raised and lived till moving to Michigan in 1988.

He was a graduate of Marion L. Steele High School with the class of 1963. Mr. Mackie was employed with General Motors retiring in 1994 as a logistics manager. He attended Bowling Green University. He was a member of Old Stone United Methodist Church in Amherst. He was a former member and elder of at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Amherst and was an advisor for Junior Achievement.

Survivors include his son Douglas K. Mackie of North Olmsted; his mother Natalie Mackie (nee Schoenfeld) of Amherst, one granddaughter; and his sisters Natalie Nitta of Kekaha Kuaii, Hawaii and Barbara Johnson of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his son Kevin Scott Mackie on September 12, 1988 and by his father Adam Edward Mackie in 1971.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:30 am from the Old Stone United Methodist Church, 553 South Main St., Amherst with the Rev. Peter Kerlin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
