Catherine T. Kritz, 89, Proprietor of Kay's Beauty Salon
Catherine T. "Kay" Kritz (nee Buri) 89, of Lorain, died Monday December 30, 2002 at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin after a brief illness. She was born September 4, 1913 in Skalite Treuclin, Slovakia and had resided in Lorain most of her life. She attended Holy Trinity grade school.
Mrs. Kritz was the proprietor of Kay's Beauty Salon in Lorain from 1946-1980. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain where she was active in church functions, the women's guild and the Altar & Rosary Society. She was a member of the St. Ann's Lodge, the Union of Poles and Slovak Catholic Sokols Wreath # 111 and many other local senior groups.
Mrs. Kritz helped organize the Lorain County Cosmetology Association. She also organized many hair styling shows. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and entertaining family and friends.
She is survived by her son Charles J. Kritz of Lorain; four grandchildren; two great grandsons, brother John Buri of Lorain and sister Ann Mahalow of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles M. Kritz in 1978, parents Michael & Theresa (nee Straka) Buri, brothers Michael Buri and Joseph Buri and an infant brother named Joey Buri.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-9 pm and the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the St. Stanislaus Altar & Rosary Society will pray the rosary Wednesday at 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday January 2, 2003 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain at a time to be announced. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
