Leo E. Chrapczynski, 75, WWII Veteran, enjoyed horse racing, fishing, and gardening
Leo E. Chrapczynski, 75, of Lorain, died suddenly at his residence on Wednesday, December 25th, 2002. He was born on September 7, 1927 in Lorain, where he has been a lifelong resident.He was employed as a foreman of the pipe inspection phase for the # 8 Seamless Mill at Lorain Works US Steel, retiring in 1983. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the European Theater of operations with the Army of occupation. He then re-enlisted in the United States Air Force for 3 more years. He was stationed at Chanute AFB, IL. He received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. Leo was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and also a member of the Polis Legion American veterans Post # 38.
He enjoyed horse racing, gardening, fishing, and especially growing tomatoes.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Dolores (nee Kozlowski), sons: Daniel, of Sheffield Village, Tom and Ken, both of Lorain, daughters: Sue Walker, of Vermilion, Peggy Rothman, of Jacksonville, FL, Diana Guting, of Lorain, 11 grandchildren, brother: Richard, of Olympia, WS, and a sister: Sister Mary Benjamin, of the sisters of St. Joseph Third Order of St. Francis, of Lorain. He is preceded in death by his parents: Bruno Chrapczynski, in 1981 and Bernice (nee Siemion) in 1980, and brother, Eugene in 1971.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29, 2002 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain and also on Monday, December 30, 2002 from 8:30 am until time of the mass at 9:00 am at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, E. 28th Street and Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Fr. Kevin Shemuga, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
