John T. Toth, 81, WWII Veteran, enjoyed landscaping, and playing the guitar
John T. Toth, age 81, of Lorain, died on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center-West, Lorain, following a 5-week illness. He was born on December 6, 1921 in Lorain where he has been a lifelong resident.He served in the United States Navy as a Boatswains Mate 2nd Class during WWII. John was employed as a welder at Koehring Thew Company for 33 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Ladislaus Church. He also was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post #451. John enjoyed gardening, landscaping and playing the guitar.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years; Rose (nee Useen) Toth, whom he met at the age of 14, daughters: Patricia Kerecz and Elizabeth Wilhelm, both of Lorain, Christine Toth, of Cleveland, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, brothers: Steve, of St. Petersburg, FL, Albert, of Murfreesboro, TN, and sister: Julia Holley, of Avon. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Nancy Yanick in 1981, brother: Frank and sister: Helen Dudinkoff.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 18, 2002 from 6-8 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Thursday, December 19, 2002 from 12:30 pm until time of services at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Rev William Schill, deacon of St. Stanislaus Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Veterans of Foreign War Post #451 will conduct full military honors.
