Mary Jane Thieben, 84, Enjoyed sewing, playing cards, crafts, and traveling

Mary Jane Thieben (nee Lahm) 84 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at Amherst Manor Nursing home following a two-month illness.

She was born November 24, 1918 in Lorain where she was raised and graduated with the class of 1936. She has been a lifetime Lorain resident.

She was a homemaker and a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church in Amherst. Mrs. Thieben attended Lorain Business School and volunteered at Community Health Partners in Lorain. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed playing cards, crafts, sewing, and traveling.

Survivors include her son, Lawrence Thieben of Waterville, Ohio; her daughters Jane Ann Molnar of Charlotte, North Carolina and Judy Rae Miller of Amherst; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother Albert Lahm of Tryon, North Carolina; and a sister Betty Ann Smykil of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her grandson Andrew Ray Clark in August 1997; and by her parents Cary and Corine (nee Mahla) Lahm.

Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. James Smucker, pastor of Heritage Presbyterian Church, Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Heritage Presbyterian Church; 515 North Leavitt Rd., Amherst, OH 44001.
