Frances Betty Gervase, 79, Enjoyed Playing Cards
Frances Betty Gervase (nee Cutrona), 79 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2002, at Anchor Lodge Independent Care in Lorain following a sudden illness.She was born December 15, 1922 in Buffalo, New York where she was raised and lived until coming to Lorain in 1958. She was a Lorain resident till 1974 prior to moving to Florida where she lived till 1999 when she moved to North Ridgeville. She has been a resident of Lorain for the past month.
She was employed at the former Higbees, now Dillards, in Elyria for 12 years retiring in 1974 as a sales clerk. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst and enjoyed playing cards, bingo and being with family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherryl Saccardi of Amherst, her grandsons, Vincent and John Saccardi both of Amherst, and her sisters Gloria Piccione and Kay Ferrara.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, John Paul Gervase on October 1, 1984; by her parents, Charles and Mary (nee Trippi) Cutrona; and by her sister Josephine Tommusula.
Friends may call Thursday, December 12th from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor, will officiate. A committal service will be held Saturday, December 14th at 11:00 a.m. from the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Cheektowaga, New York.
