Edna F. Luby, 88, Elementary School Teacher

Edna F. Luby (nee Moes), 88, of Lorain, died Tuesday December 3, 2002 in the critical care unit at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain after a sudden illness.

She was born May 10, 1914 in Vermilion and had resided in Lorain for the past 50 years.

Mrs. Luby was a graduate of Bowling Green State University where she majored in elementary education. She taught at Durling Elementary School in Sheffield Township and at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic School in Elyria Township for over 20 years retiring in 1977.

Mrs. Luby was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and the Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her daughters: Susan Stone of Amherst and Lois Carnes of Canton; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl S. Luby on September 17, 1994, sons Thomas Luby in 1988, parents Frank and Rose (nee Liederbach) Moes, and brothers Nelson Moes and Julius "Mike" Moes.

The family will receive friends Thursday December 5, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of prayer services at 12:30 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. A funeral mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3601 Oberlin Ave., Lorain with the Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Crypt of Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
