Bonnie Helen Hemmer, 80, Member of the American Legion Post # 211 Ladies Auxiliary

Bonnie Helen Hemmer (nee Clark) 80, of Westlake, formerly of Avon Lake, passed away, Monday, December 2, 2002 at the Lutheran Home, Westlake, following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Hemmer was born, February 17, 1922 in Zanesville and has lived in the area 50 years.

She worked for over 15 years at Avon Lake Drugs as a clerk. She was a member of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, and the American Legion Post 211 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, bird watching and animals. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Richard "Rick" J. Hemmer, Jr. (Linda) of Avon Lake and 2 daughters Linda R. Blackburn of Mount Eden, Kentucky, and Debra J. Able (Ron) of Avon Lake. Other survivors include 4 grandchildren, Kristin, Tim, Paul, and Brittany and 2 great grandchildren, Alixander and Alexus.

She is preceded in death by her husband Richard J. Hemmer in 1989, her parents Thomas and Gertrude (nee Bryan) Clark and sisters, Ruth E. Martin and Beatrice Breed.

A memorial service will be held in the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake, Thursday, December 5, at 5:30 p.m. The Rev. Kelly Peters of the Church will officiate. Interment will be private in Resthaven Memory Garden. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be forwarded to Avon Lake United Church of Christ.
