Nellie L. Edwards, 90, Red Cross Volunteer and L.P.N.
Nellie L. Edwards (nee Taft), 90, of Elyria, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2002 at the Welcome Nursing Home, Oberlin following a lengthy illness. She was born December 7, 1911 in Fields Corners (Now North Ridgeville) and lived in Elyria most of her life.Nellie was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.) and cared for the elderly at a number of facilities before retiring. She was a Jehovah's Witness and was a member of the Elyria West Congregation. Nellie was also a member of the North Elyria Grange and was a Red Cross volunteer. She enjoyed camping, sewing, reupholstering furniture, table games, baking pies, and cooking. Her home was always open to her family.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by three sons, David R. and Walter S. Edwards both of Elyria; and Ross J. Edwards of Bainbridge, Ohio; a daughter, Betty Resar of Grafton; eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Moses of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Ralph J. in October; her parents, Vernon and Mary (nee Coyle) Taft; two sisters, Nina Hedges and Dorothy Wood and four brothers, Burrell, Milton, Louis, and Howard Taft.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall, 44715 Telegraph Road in Elyria on Saturday December 14, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. An Elder of the congregation will officiate. Private committal services will be held at Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon. Memorials maybe forward to a charity of choice. Arrangements handled by the Busch-Curtis-Scheuffler Family Chapel, 114 Second St. Elyria.
