Ronald Robert Ehlers, 72, Served in US Air Force, retired from R.E. Warner & Associates after 40 years.

He was born August 17, 1930 in Elyria and graduated from Clearview High School with the class of 1949. He has been a resident of Lorain since 1956.

He served in the US Air Force as a radar technician during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by R.E. Warner and Associates, Westlake, for 40 years retiring in 1990 as an Engineering Draftsman. He was also a part-time associate at the Northern Ohio Industries. Mr. Ehlers was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Lorain. He loved to repair TV's, electrical machines, and was an avid bowler.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Alice Marie (nee Walkley) Ehlers; sons Craig Ehlers and Kevin Ehlers, both of Lorain; a daughter Rhonda Rangel of Amherst; five grandchildren; twin brother Louis Ehlers and brother Elmer Ehlers, both of Elyria; and a sister Eleanor Jones of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis, Sr. and Ethel (nee Miller) Ehlers; by his brothers Fred, Leslie, Grant, and Virgil Ehlers; and by his sister Elsie Sciefres.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services with the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Charles Keesee, pastor of Midway Baptist Church, Elyria, and Fr. James Ols of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Lorain will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township
