Janice Olecki, 56, Enjoyed helping others

Janice Olecki, 56 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2002 at Amherst Hospital a brief illness.

She was born September 10, 1946 in Port Huron, Michigan. She lived in Essex, England until the age of 4 moving back to Michigan where she graduated from West Branch High School.

Janice worked for Republic Steel when she first came to Cleveland. She also worked for the Cleveland Plain Dealer for 18 years in the accounting department. She volunteered as a caregiver at Jones Home orphanage on West 25th St., Cleveland and volunteered her time for New Life Hospice for 2 years. She was the treasurer and volunteer for the Oberlin Boys Scout Troop #401. She also volunteered for both the Oberlin Youth Soccer Associations. She was an active member of Old Stone United Methodist Church, Amherst. She enjoyed helping out where ever she was needed.

Survivors include husband John C. Olecki; her 12 years old son, Jonathon C. Olecki at home; her father, William T. Macklem; her sister Jill Mack and many other family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother Murial Gertrude Edna Macklem (nee Pratt).

Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Hemple Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Memorial services will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Peter Kerlin, pastor of Old Stone United Methodist Church, will officiate.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve or Old Stone United Methodist Church; 553 South Main St. Amherst, OH 44001.
