Dorothy Jane Phillips, 71, Fisher-Fazio Cashier
Dorothy Jane Phillips (nee: Howard), 71 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria following a sudden illness.She was born September 5, 1931 in Brownhelm. She was raised and lived in Henrietta and graduated from Henrietta High School in the class of 1949. She had been an Elyria resident since 1952.
She was employed by Fisher-Fazio as a cashier for 30 years. Mrs. Phillips was a member o family Fellowship Four Square Church for 48 years where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for 35 years and a Wednesday evening teacher for the children's programs for 10 years. She also served as deaconess and was a part of the Encouragers Women's Group. She enjoyed gardening flowers.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, William DeForest Phillips; her son, Jeffrey L. Phillips at home; her brother: James Howard of Port Clinton; and her sister Irene Kunzman of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Sr. and Mary (nee: Simpson) Howard and by her brother John Howard in 1998.
Friends may call Friday, November 21, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from Family Fellowship Four Square Church; 780 Cooper Foster Road, Amherst. The Rev. William Mouer, pastor, and her nephew, Mr. Bill Kunzman will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
