James R. "Randy" Williams, 42, of Lorain, died Saturday, November 16, 2002 in the Emergency Room at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, West, following a sudden illness.Born February 6, 1960 in Williamson, W. VA, his parents moved to Lorain shortly after his birth, where he had resided his entire life.
He attended Elyria West High school and served in the United States Army with the rank of Pvt. 2nd Class.
Randy was a member of Pleasantview Old Regular Baptist Church and enjoyed his children, pet snake, computer, gardening and military history.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Jean Bogan; son, James M. Williams of Lorain; daughter, Jenelle N. Williams of Lorain; father, John W. and step-mother Sherell (nee Copeland) Williams, of Hohenwold, TN; mother Leona (nee Watson) Reynolds of Lorain. Other survivors include a brother, John W. Williams, Jr., of Lorain; step-brothers, Frederick Reynolds of Lorain, Charles Michael Reynolds of Willowick; sister, Geri Lynn Howard of Lorain; step-sisters, Theresa Taylor of Indianapolis, IN, Melanie Spare of Balground, GA and Rhonda Boggs of Elyria.
He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles E. Reynolds, October 16, 2002; maternal grandparents, William H. and Lassie (nee Moore) Watson; and paternal grandparents, Albert and Lillian (nee Plummer) Williams.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasantview Old Regular Baptist Church, Beat Road at Spieth Road, Litchfield, Ohio. Elder Larry Newsome, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
The Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, will conduct full military honors.
