Robert Joseph Lingenfelter, 75, Servant of God
Robert Joseph Lingenfelter, 75 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a two-month illness.He was born August 8, 1927 in Bracenridge, Pennsylvania where he was raised and lived for 21 years. He has been a resident of Lorain since 1948.
Robert served in the US Army during World War II with occupation forces in Europe. He was employed by U.S. Steel, Lorain for 35 years, retiring in 1988 as a boilermaker. He was a member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, South Amherst, where he served as a Senior Adult Ministry Leader. He was a member of the Lorain D.A.V. Louis Paul Proy Disabled American Veterans #20; Lorain American Legion Post #30, and Lorain V.F.W. He enjoyed genealogy and stamp collecting.
Survivors include his son, Joe Lingenfelter of Lorain, his daughter Bonnie Santantonio of Amherst; three grandchildren, and his brother John Lingenfelter of North Eaton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-eight years, Margaret Ann (nee Testerman) Lingenfelter in 1977; by his parents Harry and Minnie (nee: Collins) Lingenfelter; and by his brother Harry Lingenfelter.
Friends may call Friday, November 15, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 272 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16th at 11:00 a.m. from North Lake Missionary Baptist Church; 323 North Lake Street, South Amherst. The Rev. Carson Fraley, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
