Elizabeth A. Catalano, 80, Lifelong Lorain Area Resident

Elizabeth A. Catalano (nee Balko), 80, of Lorain, died Wednesday November 13, 2002 at Golden Acres Nursing Home in Amherst.

She was born January 14, 1912 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Mrs. Catalano worked for Bonds Clothing in Lorain and then at the State Employment Bureau in Lorain.

During the 1950's she helped her husband Angelo run a golf driving range and drive-in food stand on West Erie Avenue near Vermilion.

She is survived by her son Robert Catalano of Lorain, daughter Loralee Cooke of Louisville, Kentucky; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Angelo in 2002, sisters Ann Chibola, Mary Ondick and Ethel Stoboda and brothers George Balko and Joseph Balko.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Chuck Henkle, associate pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Crypt of Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
