Edward C. Zbornik, 95, Avid Golfer

Edward C. Zbornik, 95, of Westlake formerly of Chardon and Parma, passed away, Sunday, November 10th at Harbor Side Care Center, following a short illness.

Mr. Zbornik was born March 16,1 907 in Cleveland.

He worked for the United States Postal Service retiring as a supervisor in 1972 after 42 years of service. He also served for a time as Secretary of the American Postal Workers Union.

Mr. Zbornik was an avid golfer, and co-founder of the first Postal Golf League at Turkey Foot Golf Course. He was also an avid Cleveland Indians Baseball Fan.

His first wife, Anna (nee Trneny) of 41 years, passed away in 1977 and his second wife, Theresa (nee DiRosa) of 12 years, passed away in 1998. He is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Taress of Avon Lake, and Marilyn (Majcher) Walters of Plantation, FL. Other survivors include 7 grandchildren; Phillip, Vicki, Christine, Donald, Diana, Lisa and James and a great granddaughter, Kyrie Ann. Besides his wives, Mr. Zbornik is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bertha (nee Cerny); brothers, Robert and Clarence and a grandson John.

Friends may call the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake, Wednesday, November 13th, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Prayer services will be held at the funeral home, Thursday, November 14th at 10:15 a.m. followed by the mass of Christian Burial in Holy Spirit Church, 410 Lear Road, Avon Lake at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Ed Smith of St. Jude Church, Elyria, will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.
