Billy Ray Dobbins, 56, Area Interstate Trucking Dispatch
Billy Ray Dobbins age 56 of Grafton passed away in his home after a three year battle with cancer.He was born Nov. 6, 1946 in Orton, W.Va. and lived in the Grafton area since 1955. He attended The Church of the Open Door for several years, and worked very hard on the music for the Christmas program.
Mr. Dobbins served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1969 as a diesel mechanic in the communications field during the Vietnam Era. He was employed by Area Interstate Trucking as a driver, then in dispatch as he referred himself as the "Traffic God". He was employed there for 15 years and enjoyed golfing, oil painting landscapes & seascapes, & enjoyed playing the violin. He also enjoyed flower gardening, and his family was very important to him.
He is survived by his wife Betty Ann married 32 yrs., 1 Daughter Jenny Dobbins of Elyria Ohio
His parents Gerald & Elizabeth Dobbins of Grafton, Ohio, 1 Brother Gerald Dobbins Jr. of Elyria, Ohio, 8 Nephews & 2 Nieces.
Friends may call in the Blackburn Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton Sunday, November 10, 2002 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm with a home going Celebration Monday at 10:00 am in the Church of the Open Door with pastor Robert Schroyer off.
Burial will be in Nesbett Cemetery in Grafton Twp.,Ohio.
