Steve Kudlo, 89, Bronze Star Recipient

Steve Kudlo, 89, of Lorain, died Wednesday November 6, 2002 at Community Health Partners Hospital & Surgical Center in Lorain after a brief illness.

He was born December 7, 1912 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Mr. Kudlo served with the US Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star and World War II Victory Medal.

He worked as a millwright at US Steel in Lorain before retiring.

Mr. Kudlo was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the church Holy Name Society, St. John/Holy Trinity Lodge #228, Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20, the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America and the Golden Agers of Lorain.

He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Kudlo (nee Ragan) on January 14, 2000, parents Joseph & Barbara (nee Kelon) Kudlo, brothers Joseph Kudlo, Frank Kudlo and Leon Kudlo and sisters Anna Shock, Rose Killenn Bidle, Helen Kowalchyk, Lucy Wilker and Caroline Giese.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain where the Holy Trinity Holy Name Society will pray the rosary Friday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday in the funeral chapel at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veteran Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
