George McKinney, 66, Ford Motor Co. - Paint Dept.

George McKinney, 66 years of age, and a resident of Harold, Kentucky and formerly of South Amherst, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at his son's home in South Amherst following a 15-month illness.

He was born November 17, 1935 in Osborne, Kentucky where he lived till 1960 when he moved to Lorain. He was a 22-year resident of South Amherst, prior to moving to Kentucky in 1993.

He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1962 where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Army Occupation and the Army Occupation medal, and the Marksmanship Medal. He was employed at the Lorain Plant of Ford Motor Co. fro 30 years, retiring in 1993 from the painting department. While living in Lorain County, he was a member of Washington Street Church of Christ. He was a member of Uppertoles Church of Christ in Kentucky.

Survivors include his wife of forty-four years, Evelyn McKinney (nee Adkins); his sons George and Gregory McKinney, both of South Amherst, five grandchildren; brothers, Willard Moore of Amherst, Dean McKinney of Port Clinton; and his sister Gay Leboda of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Ellen McKinney (nee: Kidd) and his sister Rosemary Williamson.

Friends may call Thursday, November 07, 2002 from 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. from the funeral home with Rev. Steven Cain officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
