Dennis C. Urban, 53, Tool Booth Collector

Dennis C. Urban, 53, of Lorain died Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at his residence following a sudden illness.

Born July 27, 1949 in Lorain, he was a life long resident here. He was a 1967 graduate of Admiral King High School. In 1972, Dennis graduated from the University of Akron with a bachelor degree in education and a minor in management.

For the past six years, Dennis was employed as a toll booth collector at exit 9 of the Ohio Turnpike. Prior to that, he worked as a teacher in the Lorain School System for 3 years. He had also worked for Kroger’s on Meister Road in Lorain in management and the Ohio State Liquor Departments retail stores in Lorain in management.

He was a member of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ, Lorain where he served as an usher for many years.

An avid softball player, he pitched for softball leagues in North Ridgeville, Lorain and served as team captain for over 10 years. He also enjoyed league bowling.

Surviving is his sister, Elsie Nather, of Lorain, a brother, Ed Urban of Amherst Township and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Urban, and Dorothy (nee Olah) Urban.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be Saturday, October 12th, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
