Myron Clay Alheit, 81, Parts Manager
Myron Clay Alheit, age 81, of Vermilion, died Sunday, October 6, 2002 at Kingston ofVermilion following a nine month illness.
He was born on February 17, 1921 in Amherst and has been a Vermilion resident since 1942, moving from Elyria.
He worked as a parts manager for J.R. Dall in Elyria from 1939 to 1967 and at Baker Ford in Vermilion from 1967 to 1977. He did carpentry and concrete work and also managed the Harbourtown Car Wash in Vermilion, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the American Legion Post 424 in Vermilion, the Vermilion Disabled American Veterans and the Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church. He enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife of 3 years, Evona (nee Edgell) Alheit of Vermilion; daughters, Lynne Dowell, West Lafayette, Indiana, Patricia Bombac of Lorain, and Beth Waterbury of Amherst, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, step-sons, Edgel Tallman, Fred Tallman, Roger Tallman, Gary Tallman and Lynn Tallman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Alheit in 1995, his parents, Martin and Ida (nee Reynolds) Alheit, brother, Edward Alheit and sister Thelma Gullet.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 8, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. The Reverend John Hood, pastor of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Rugby Cemetery in Brownhelm Township.
