Shirley Jones, 80, enjoyed flower gardening, crafts, cross-stitch and feeding birds
Shirley Jones (nee Coleman), age 80, of Amherst, and formerly of Lorain, died Friday October 4, 2002 in the intensive care unit of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - West following an extended illness. She was born February 17, 1922 in Lorain and had been a resident of Amherst since 1978.A graduate of Lorain High School, Mrs. Jones was an avid golfer and an accomplished duplicate bridge player. Additional interests included flower gardening, working with all types of crafts, cross-stitch, and feeding birds.
She is survived by her sons: James R. Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina, Walter L. Jones of Greensboro, North Carolina, daughter: Janet M. Brosky of Amherst, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, brother: Robert Coleman of Lorain, and sister: Nancy Mittendorf of Amherst.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Earl Jones in 1980, a granddaughter: Andrea Jones, her parents: Ralph and Marie (nee Duetschlander), sister:; Betty O'Keefe, and brother: John Coleman.
Friends may call Sunday from 4-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Jimmy W. Madsen, CO-pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill memorial park - Amherst Twp., Ohio.
