James L. Gregory, 75, US Steel Pump Operator
James L. Gregory, 75, of Lorain died on Monday, September 30, 2002 at Specialty Hospital of Lorain following a lengthy illness.Mr. Gregory was born on December 25, 1926 in Bluefield, WV and moved to the Lorain area in 1955. He retired in 1989 from US Steel as a pump operator following 19 years of service. He had also worked at Fruehauf in Sheffield Lake.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed Indians baseball and playing cards.
Mr. Gregory is survived by his son, Ronald J. Soczynski of Lorain, his sister Helen Melvin of Tazwell, VA and his friend and caregiver Jack D. Lutz, Jr. with whom he made his home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Maude (nee Torrance) Gregory, sisters, Ruth Burress, Margaret Neel, brothers Charles Gregory, John Gregory, Raymond Gregory, Robert Gregory and Roy Gregory.
Friends may call Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Friday, October 4, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on October 5,2 002 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Father John J. Kline, pastor emeritus of St. Mary Catholic Church officiating.
James L. Gregory will be buried at the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Twp., with military burial honors provided by VFW Post 451 of Lorain.
