Felicita C. Garcia, 82, Enjoyed bingo, shopping and crocheting

Felicita C. Garcia, 82, of Lorain, died Sunday, September 29, 2002 at her residence while under the care of New Life Hospice.

She was born on June 10, 1920 in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, and resided in Lorain since 1951. She worked at the Lorain Towel Supply Co. for ten years before retiring.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and was one of the original Cursillistas of the parish. She enjoyed Bingo, shopping and crocheting. A humanitarian, she was always helping others in need.

She is survived by a son, Pete Cruz of Germantown MD., and daughters, Gladys Herrera of Lorain, and Carmen Cruz, with whom she made her home; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Juan Garcia of Florida and Jose Garcia of Bronx, NY; and a sister; Julia Garcia of Bronx, NY.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Pedro C. Garcia, in 2001; a sons, Felix Garcia, in 1984, her father, Manuel Garcia, in 1969, her mother, Elvira (nee Rios) Garcia, in 1969; and sisters, Maria Garcia in 1990; Justa Garcia in 1993, and Nitin Vasquez in 2002.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 1, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Chapel, 4201 Pearl Ave., Lorain. Rev. Father William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
