William H. McMillian, 84, Enjoyed golf and reading
William H. McMillian - 84 of Avon Lake, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, September 27, at Fairview General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. McMillian was born, September 6, 1918 in Summersville, WV and has lived in Avon Lake for 36 years.Mr. McMillian was employed by General Motors, as a Zone Manager, overseeing 200+ dealerships. He retired in 1984 after 34 years of service. He was a WWII army veteran. Prior to the war, Mr. McMillian was a schoolteacher; he received his Bachelor of Education from Glenville State College, WV.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 76, Summersville, WV, where he served as past master and a 32nd degree Shriner in Indianapolis. He also enjoyed golf and reading.
His first wife Catherine J. (nee Howard) passed away in 1961 and his second wife Winifred H. (nee Harmon) passed away in 2002. He is survived by sons William O. McMillian (Sharon) of Vienna WV and John Virt (Joyce) of San Diego, CA; daughters Meri Grace of San Diego, CA and Lois Duncan of St. Petersburg, FL. Other survivors include a sister Joan Kamm of Summersville, WV; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a daughter Victoria Segura and a sister Jean Brothers.
