James Clifford Klaar, 86, Brass and Copper Bearings Machinist
James Clifford Klaar, 86, of Vermilion died Saturday, September 7, 2002 in Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.He was born April 3, 1916 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident since 1945.
He worked as a brass and copper bearings machinist for MA Harrison Co. in Birmingham retiring in 1981. He had also worked for Mauer-Wikel Dairy, Vermilion until 1969. He spent 3 years in the National Guard and was a Veteran of the US Army serving during WWII.
He was a member of Harbourtown Community Foursquare Church, Vermilion, Ely Lodge #424, Vermilion where he was a 32 Degree Mason. He also enjoyed stamp collecting.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Mae (nee Maurer) Klaar, son, Robert George Klaar of Lyndeborough, NH; daughter, Martha Ann Hick of Pemaquid, ME; 1 grandson, 2 great-great grandchildren and a brother, George Andrew Klaar of San Jose, CA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Edith Roma (nee Philby) Klaar.
Friends may call Monday, September 9, 2002 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio where the Masons Ely Lodge #424 will be conducting a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at 11:00 am. at the Riddle Funeral Home, with the Reverend Jim Cooper, pastor of the Harbourtown Community Foursquare Church officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Vermilion Veteran's Council.
