James Alexander Howard, 86, Enjoyed flea markets, auctions, garage sales and rebuilding lawn mowers

James Alexander Howard, 86, of Lorain, died Saturday, September 7, 2002, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a short illness. Born March 4, 1916 in Cameron, W.VA, he moved to Lorain in 1950.

He served as a Tech. Sgt. in the United States Army during WWII.

James was employed as a bull block operator for TRW, previously Nelson Stud Welding, for 18 years, retiring in 1980. Prior to that, he was employed with US Steel for 9 1/2 years and American Shipbuilding for 3 1/2 years.

He was a member of the Elyria Baptist Church and enjoyed flea markets, auctions, garage sales, rebuilding lawn mowers and his beloved grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Fred Wressell of Berlin Heights; 3 daughters, Beatrice Martincin of Sheffield Village, Avonelle Webster of Hibbing, MN, Donna Hartman of Lorain; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Marion Keffer of Parkersburg, W.VA; and 2 sisters, Louella Hudimac of Wheeling, W.VA and Lillian Wright, of Moundsville, W.VA.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Doris (nee Hayer) in 1987; sons; Harold Wressell, Charles Wressell; grandson, Randy Wressell, brothers, Jack Burl, Charles Howard, and John Howard.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Jim Gordon, pastor of Elyria Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
