Jay J. Stinson, 72, enjoyed woodworking and computers

Jay J. Stinson, 72, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at the Cleveland Clinic after a 3-month illness.

Born December 20, 1929 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a Vermilion resident since 1964 and had lived in Lorain.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had served in Korea. He worked in the stock control office at Ford Motor Company, Lorain and retired in 1989 after 30 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist church, and the Huron Eagles Aerie #2875. He was a former member of the Vermilion Jaycees. He played the trumpet in many combos over the years. After retirement he played with a group call "The Retreads" who performed for nursing homes. He enjoyed woodworking and computers.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores "Dee" (nee Meadows) to whom he was married 46 years; a daughter, Kelley Scheiferstein, Vermilion; 2 grandchildren; a brother, Tim Stinson, Charlotte, North Carolina, and 2 sisters, Phoebe Robinson, Oceanside, CA and Ruth Ann Robinette, Bridgewater, VA.

A sister, Mary Jane Lukesic, and his parents, Archie and Mary (nee McBrayer) Stinson preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be announced by the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion.
