Jay J. Stinson, 72, Ford Stock Control Office Employee

Jay J. Stinson, 72 of Vermilion, died Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at the Cleveland Clinic after a 3-month illness.

Born December 20, 1929 in Richlands, VA, he was a Vermilion resident since 1964 and had lived in Lorain.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had served in Korea. He worked in the stock control office of Ford Motor Co., Lorain and retired in 1989 after 30 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and the Huron Eagles Aerie #2875. He was a former member of the Vermilion Jaycees. He played with a group called "The Retreads" who performed for nursing homes. He enjoyed woodworking and computers.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores "Dee" (nee Meadows) to whom he was married 46 years, a daughter, Kelley Scheiferstein, Vermilion, 2 grandchildren, a brother, Tim Stinson, Charlotte, North Carolina, and 2 sisters, Phoebe Robinson, Oceanside, CA and Ruth Ann Robinette, Bridgewater, VA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Lukesic, and his parents, Archie and Mary (nee McBreayer) Stinson.

A memorial service will be held Monday, September 9, 2002 at Grace United Methodist Church, Coen & West Lake Roads, Vermilion, with the Reverend James Cox, pastor, officiating followed by Military Honors conducted by the Vermilion Veteran's Council.
