Dorothy V. Janik, 73, Hobbies included reading, crocheting, and visiting Kelley's Island
Dorothy V. Janik, (nee Kinder), age 73, of Elyria Township, died Tuesday August 27, 2002 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Janik was born November 22, 1928 in Lorain, Ohio and had been a life-long resident of Lorain County. She attended Clearview Schools.She was an active parishioner of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and had also served as a volunteer in the parish's bingo program.
Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, and frequent visits to Kelley's Island.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years: Albert "Al" Janik, sons: Louis of Jacksonville, Florida, Paul of Elyria, and James of Lorain, daughters: Lois Burkiewicz of Lorain, 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, brothers: William Kinder of Lorain, Robert Kinder of Vermilion, and sister: Elizabeth Janik of Elyria.
Her parents preceded her in death: William and Susan (nee Kish) Kinder.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain where a rosary service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by members of the St. Vincent Altar & Rosary Society. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church - 41295 North Ridge Road - Elyria Township. (Family and friends are asked to gather at the church at 10:15) The Rev. James Ols, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Kelley's Island Cemetery.
