Janice H. Gable, 81, Assembler

Janice H. Gable (nee Carver), age 81, of Lorain, died Sunday, August 25, 2002 at her residence under the care of New Life Hospice following an illness of one month.

She was born August 1, 1921 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.

A 1938 graduate of Lorain High School, Mrs. Gable had been employed as an assembler and also in the general office of the Lorain Products Corporation; she retired in1984 following 24 years of service. She had previously been employed by Standard Oil of Ohio, by General Motors Cadillac Tank Division, as well as the Thew Division of Koerhing Company.

She was a long time parishioner of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church; her hobbies included boating and fishing, vacationing in both Florida and Marblehead, cooking and counted cross-stitch.

She is survived by her son: Richard B. Gable, Jr. of Lima, daughter, Jacque L. Williams of Brownhelm Township, and two grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Richard B. Gable, Sr. in 1997, by her parents: Tompie T. and Nora Ella (nee Kirby) Carver, brother: Paul Awtry and sisters: Verneal Neubauer and Erma Lee Johnson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 28, 2002 from noon until time of services at 2:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggests memorials in her name to New Life Hospice, 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
