Carl T. Trigilio, 79, US Navy Veteran

Carl T. Trigilio, age 79, of Lorain and Pine Island Florida, died Friday August 23, 2002 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain after an extended illness. Born May 20, 1923 in Lorain, Mr. Trigilio was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a 1941 graduate of Lorain High School, where he won many ribbons for his excellence on the Track and Field Team.

Mr. Trigilio served in the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class. He was assigned to the USS Hitchit during WWII. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, African European Middle Eastern Medal, American Area Medal, and the Victory Medal.

He was a parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain.

He served as a Lorain City Firefighter for 33 years, retiring in 1981 with the rank of Lieutenant. He previously worked at the former American Shipbuilding Company in Lorain.

He enjoyed boating, fishing, playing cards, and spending time at his retirement home in Pine Island, Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Frances (nee Campisi) of Lorain; son: David C. Trigilio of Little Rock, Arkansas; Son and Daughter-in-law; Timothy S. and Virginia (nee Lewis) Trigilio of Amherst; granddaughters; Angela, Amy and Carrie Trigilio; brother; Thomas Trigilio of Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters; Nina Poprock and Lillian McQuate, both of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Sebastian and Lillian (nee Monteleone) Trigilio and sisters: Fannie Campis and Dorothy Dembek.

Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by his funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. G. Michael Williamson, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain with Mullen-Murray Post 451 Veterans of Foreign War providing military honors.

The family suggests memorial contributions in his memory to the St. Peter Parish Endowment Fund in care of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, OH 44053.
