Finley Goodson, 74, US Army Veteran
Finley Goodson, age74, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, West, Lorain, following a short illness.He was born on December 17, 1927 in Glomawr, Kentucky. Finley moved to this area in 1953.
He served in the United States Army from 1950-1952.
He was employed as a crane operator at US Steel for 13 years, retiring in 1995. Prior to this he was a Lorain Transit driver for 9 years.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20.
He is survived by his sons: James of Pennsylvania, Matt and Archie Goodson, both of Lorain, daughters: Veronica Lynch, of Lorain, Mary Marie Vazquez, of PR, Margie Resma, of CA, Debra Goodson, of Lorain, 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Other survivors included brothers: Frank and Chris Goodson, both of Dayton, OH, David Goodson, of Middletown, OH, sisters: Freda Marie Huggins, of Florida, Virginia Brewer, of Indiana, Rickie Risner, Phyllis Dotson, both of Kentucky, and Barbara Risner, of IL.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years: Louise (nee Quillen) on March 6, 2002 and daughter: Carolyn Goodson sisters: Marie Hamton and Juanita Richie.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 25, 2002 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Russell Kirkendall, pastor of Full Gospel Tabernacle will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. The Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, will conduct full military honors.
