Dorothy Ann Krosky, 81, Enjoyed writing poetry
Dorothy Ann Krosky (nee Husar), 81 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.She was born March 20, 1921 in Lorain. She was raised in South Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School in the class of 1939B. She had been a resident of Lorain prior to moving to Amherst in 1978.
During the war years, she worked at Sears Hardware store and the Lorain Shipyards as a timekeeper. Dorothy was employed by Century Telephone for 22 years, first as a telephone operator and then in the repair department, entering service calls in the computer, retiring in 1994. While at Century Telephone, she enjoyed participating in social events and would write a short poem for the Christmas party each year.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst where she was a praying member of Legion of Mary. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens of Amherst, the International Telephone Pioneer Association. A longtime member and leader of Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) Silhouettes Club #117, and the Lorain YMCA where she did water walking. When her children were younger, she was active as a homeroom mother, in the PTA, and in the Girl Scouts. Dorothy enjoyed writing poetry, which was recorded, published, and read on the air at WLRO radio station in Lorain. She enjoyed bus trips to musical theater performances, trivia, game shows, playing cards, needlepoint, cross stitch, and crocheting. She also collected teddy bears, and was a lifelong Cleveland Indian's fan. She was also an excellent cook.
Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Cathy Krosky of Amherst, her son Michael Krosky of Lorain, and her brothers Joseph G. Husar of Amherst and George Richard Husar of Mesa, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna (nee Lukacs) Husar in 1965 and 1966 respectively, by her sister Ann Martha Shumylan; and by her brothers Andru, John, George and Michael A. Husar.
Friends and family are invited to a graveside service on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. from Calvary Cemetery in Lorain with a luncheon to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst.
