Marvin E. Ellsworth, 76, Ellsworth Construction and LuAnn's Bakeries Owner

Marvin E. Ellsworth, 76 of Vermilion, died Sunday, August 18, 2002 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 13, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio and has been an area resident the past 34 years.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a pilot and aviation radioman during WWII.

He had degrees in architecture and electrical engineering.

He owned and managed rental properties in Erie and Lorain Counties. He owned and operated Ellsworth Construction and built homes in Vermilion, Lorain and Elyria. He owned LuAnn's Bakeries including six locations in Vermilion, Lorain, 2 at the Sandusky Mall, Elyria and North Ridgeville. He was a commercial pilot having licenses to fly every aircraft except a blimp. He3 gave flying lesions at Ortners Airport, Wakeman, Emory Riddle in Florida and the U.S. Air Force base in Texas.

He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion. He was an avid ham radio operation, enjoyed flying, motorcycles and reading.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Ellsworth (nee Sprowls), 3 daughters, Sandy Paylor of Washington, Susan E. AlMaleki of Detroit, Michigan and Debra L. Sommers-Mento of Dayden, Michigan, a son, Patrick Ellsworth of Idaho, step sons, Wayne Hoffman of Vermilion and Perry Hoffman of Jacksonville, Florida, step-daughter Darlene Martincak of Vermilion; 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Nelson and Lillie (nee Henderson) Ellsworth; a son, Gregory Dean Ellsworth in 1994, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Friends may call Wednesday, August 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.

A funeral service will be held at the Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Fernadale Ave., Vermilion, Ohio, Thursday, August 22, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Guy Morton, pastor, officiating. Private interment will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
