Mysie L. Holzhauer, 88, Lifelong South Amherst Resident
Mysie L. Holzhauer (nee Stephenson), 88 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Monday, August 12, 2002 at Marie Joseph Center, Trotwood, OH following a short illness.She was born December 4, 1913 in South Amherst where she was raised and graduated from South Amherst High School with the class of 1931. She had been a lifelong resident of South Amherst.
Mrs. Holzhauer worked with her husband running a dairy farm from 1934 to 1956. She also worked for Sliman Dodge, Amherst for 21 years, retiring in June, 1980 as a bookkeeper. She was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, South Amherst where she served as past president of the Church Council and Woman's Guild and was a member of the Altar Guild and the Friendship Circle.
Survivors include her son, Ronald J. Holzhauer of Dayton; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was receded in death by her husband of 22 years, Gredrich "Fritz" Holzhauer on December 3, 1956; her parents George and Louise (nee Baird) Stephenson; her twin brother Gerald Stephenson, in 1991 and another brother Reginald Baldry in 1981; and by her sisters Mauiel Gauman in 1990 and Enid Gasser.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Hemple Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Paul D. Eaton, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, South Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
