Robert M. Tansey, 81, Enjoyed Woodcrafting Bird Houses & Feeders
Robert M. Tansey, age 81, of Sandusky, died Saturday, August 10, 2002 at the Ohio Veteran's Home in Sandusky following a lengthy illness. He was born on November 25, 1920 in Brownhelm Township and has been a lifelong resident of the area.He was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII. He worked as a screw machinist for the Parker Hannifin Co. in Elyria and also for the former Perry Fay Co. in Elyria.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion, the Caneshans Catholic Singles Organization and the Vermilion Golden Agers. He enjoyed woodcrafting birdhouses and feeders and gardening.
His sons, David and Edward, both of Wakeman and Thomas, of Vermilion; 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren survive him: brothers, James of Vermilion and Michael of Wakeman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rena Fout Tansey, his parents, Martin and Anna Strehle Tansey, brothers, George, Frank and Charles and a sister, Margaret Shafts.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 13, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion.
Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. The Reverend Steve Blum, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Vermilion Veteran's Council.
