George Lopatkovich, 89, Enjoyed Gardening & Travel

George Lopatkovich, age 89, of Lorain, died Saturday August 10, 2002 in the emergency room at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - West following a brief illness. Mr. Lopatkovich was born December 29, 1912 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city. He attended the Lorain City Schools.

A World War II US Army veteran, he served in the medical corps throughout the European Theater.

For more than thirty-four years he was employed as a food processor at the Home Dariy, a Lorain landmark business that had been operated by him and his family on East 34th Street for many years.

His hobbies included gardening and travel.

Survivors included his wife of 63 years: Montana Jean (nee Urban) and a sister: Catherine Lopatkovich of Lorain along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Mary (nee Urchib) Lopatkovich, by sisters: Mary Linn, Sue Jostis, Alice Henes, and Margaret Lopatkovich, and by brothers: Frank, Joseph, Steve, Charles, and Michael.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. David Novak, pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park - Amherst Township.
