Dominic Romeo, 84, served in Italian Army in the calvalry in Africa and Italy

Dominic Romeo, 84, of Lorain, died Wednesday August 7, 2002 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain.

He was born September 27, 1917 in Ardore, Italy and had resided in Lorain since 1952.

Mr. Romeo served with the Italian Army in the cavalry in Africa and Italy.

He worked in the tool & die shop at US Steel in Lorain retiring in 1972.

He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter and past member of the Italian-American Veteran Post #1, both of Lorain.

He is survived by his daughter Ellen (Patrick) Romeo of Akron, sons: Dominic Romeo Jr., Carlo Romeo and Angelo Romeo, all of Akron, 2 grandchildren, sisters Maria Romeo of Italy and Antoinette Ricci of Lorain. Others include brother Fred Romeo of Lorain, several nieces and nephews and companion Mary Hress of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carlo and Maria (nee Bova) Romeo and sisters Concetta Todarello, Rosa Pelle and Caterina Marando.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3601 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. G. Michael Williamson, associate pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
