Carl John Dunn, 70, enjoyed fishing and playing cards
Carl John Dunn, 70 of Sheffield Village, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2002 at New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph after a long illness.Mr. Dunn was born on September 20, 1931 in Morgantown, WV and moved to Lorain in 1950. He was a US Army Veteran, serving in Korea. He was retired from US Steel in 1995 with 25 years service in the bar mill and the coke plant. He had also been employed with Fruehauf Trailer Company for almost 20 years before it closed.
He enjoyed fishing and playing cards, especially solitaire.
He is survived by his wife, Clarabelle (nee Hiser) Dunn to whom he was married on August 31, 1957, daughter Lauretta Dunn of Sheffield Village. Sons Bryan of Lorain, John of Sheffield Village, David of Sheffield Lake, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brothers, Miller Dunn of Lorain and William of Wilsonburg, WV, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Dunn was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan and Margaret (nee Pletcher) Dunn. Friend may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Duffy of the First Baptist Church of Sandusky and Mr. James Hiser, Mr. Dunn's brother-in-law officiating.
Burial will be in the Elmhurst Cemetery, Avon with full military honors provided by the VFW Post 451 of Lorain.
