Samuel Colon, Jr., 21, enjoyed basketball, baseball, playing the guitar and drawing

Samuel Colon, Jr. 21, of Lorain, died Sunday July 21, 2002 following an accidental drowning at Century Beach, Lorain.

He was born June 3, 1981 in Chicago, Illinois and has been a Lorain resident for the past 9 months. He was employed in the factory of the Multi Food & Co. in Lorain. During his high school years he played basketball, where his team won many tournaments, he played baseball in the Middle Leagues as an outfielder, enjoyed music especially playing the guitar, and drawing where he took 2nd place in a citywide contest in Chicago.

He attended the Cristo-El-Rey Church in Lorain.

He is survived by his parents Samuel and Milagros (Ortiz) Colon, Sr. of Lorain, sister Damaris Colon of Lorain, and paternal grandparents Edwardo and Celedonia Colon of Puerto Rico, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Estevan and Rosa Ortiz.

Friend may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1929 Oberlin Ave., where services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township, Ohio.
